With rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed senior officials to take strict action against people or organisations who flout COVID-19 guidelines. For seven consecutive days, the state has been reporting over 3,000 new cases, while Mumbai city around 500 plus cases. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also said that it is in the hands of people to avert another COVID-induced lockdown by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
