CHAMPAIGN — The number of active COVID-19 cases in Champaign County fell Friday for a fifth day in a row.

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District reported 49 new cases, boosting the total to date to 18,161.

Of those total cases, 458 were active, down two from Thursday.

The number of close contacts in quarantine was also down by 23, to 566.

Tests in the county were up by 8,936 in the past day.
