Mumbai city on Wednesday once again reported a spike of over 5,394 new cases, against 4,758 on Tuesday, taking the overall caseload to 4,14,714. Whereas, 3,130 people also recovered in 24 hours, taking the overall recoveries to 3.5 lakh. However, 15 people succumbed to the disease on Wednesday. In Thane, 995 people tested positive for the virus, taking the overall tally to 77,896. Whereas, with five deaths, the death toll has reached 1,390. In another development, posing tough queries to former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh, the Bombay High Court asked why he did not file a First Information Report (FIR) against the alleged malpractices of state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh before bringing the matter to the courts
